So How Does It Work?
Milk and Moon Care is a postpartum doula referral agency that connects new and growing families with experienced, vetted postpartum doulas. We take the time to understand each family’s needs, preferences, and schedule, then thoughtfully match them with a doula who is the right fit. We handle the referral and screening process so families can focus on rest and prepping for baby while receiving reliable, compassionate postpartum care.
Schedule a Consultation Call
Fill out our interest form so we can learn more about your needs and how best to support you. You’ll then schedule a 30-minute phone call with our placement coordinator, where you can get to know our agency, ask any questions, and explore whether we’re the right fit for you. Following the call, if you decide you’d like to move forward with booking a doula, we’ll begin the screening process.
Begin Screening Process
Our placement coordinator will begin the search for a postpartum doula who aligns with your needs. This process includes reviewing resumes, contacting references, conducting in-depth interviews, and running extensive background checks. Once complete, we will present you with 1–3 highly qualified candidates for you to review and select from at your own pace.
Book Your Doula!
Once you’ve selected your doula, we’ll notify them and they will provide you with their contract to review and sign. After the agreement is completed, your doula will be officially booked and ready to begin supporting you when your baby arrives.

1 / What's the difference between a Postpartum Doula and a Night Nurse?
A postpartum doula and a night nurse both support families after a baby is born, but their roles and training differ. A postpartum doula is a non medical professional that offers physical, emotional, and practical support for the whole family during the day or overnight. They can perform tasks such as; laundry, meal prep, newborn care and education, postpartum care, and listening to parents as they navigate those early weeks.
A night nurse is a medical professional who has a background in nursing and provides overnight newborn care for families.
Milk and Moon Care can match families with doulas, newborn care specialists, and night nurses.
2 / How much does this cost?

Postpartum doulas in our network charge $35–$65 per hour, depending on experience and services.

Our agency charges a 10% placement fee, calculated on the total value of your doula contract. This fee is separate from your doula's contract, it is not deducted from the doula's cost.

50% of the placement fee is due upfront before we begin the screening process and the remaining 50% is due once you select and confirm your doula.
3/ How many hours should I book?
It depends on your budget and your recovery needs, but many families start with more hours in the first 2 weeks and then taper down. Here are common daytime hours:

Hi! I’m a wife, a mother of two boys, and the founder of Milk and Moon Care.
Milk and Moon Care was born in 2021 after the birth of my first son, during a season when I deeply struggled with baby blues and loneliness. My husband returned to work just one week postpartum, and my family in Canada couldn’t travel due to COVID. I needed a village—someone to listen, reassure me, and help care for me while I learned to care for my baby.
Like so many mothers, I later learned I wasn’t alone. Nearly 80% of new moms experience baby blues, and 1 in 8 face postpartum depression. No mother should have to go through this season without support.
I began caring for friends after they had babies and quickly discovered my calling. I became a Certified Postpartum Doula, and Milk and Moon Care was born. When I shared my work online, families across the U.S. were amazed to learn that postpartum support exists—support that allows parents to truly rest and enjoy their little one.
Today, Milk and Moon Care connects families nationwide with compassionate, trusted postpartum doulas who provide calm, nurturing support during the newborn season.
